It’s a fierce December morning, the wind is howling over the lake and I have to work hard to pull the warm and powerful ‘Chalet memories’ out from hibernation. They are tucked away safely – to be drawn upon in time of need….when I crave the security of family, when I am tired of the rat race or when I want to reassure myself that no matter what the challenges are in my ‘city’ life – the sun will continue to rise and set and the loons will continue to call to me from the shores of Lamb’s Lake. There is much comfort for me in this knowledge.
For each of us, the Chalet is not only the physical location – a cozy cabin on the shores of Lambs Lake ….it is a presence and an essence, it is a part of the fabric that has made us who we are. For over four decades and three generations – she has welcomed us into her open arms to comfort us when we are weary, to inspire us when we are jaded and to bring us together as a family. She is our precious secret – she is the tie that binds us together. We have shared her magic with many and spread the news of her charm around the world.
And so – it is in this spirit that I challenge each of you to contribute your heart and souls to the most precious gift of all – a keepsake which will capture the true essence of her meaning to each of us.
How will this work?
I have created a BLOG where each of you can share your words (and photos) of inspiration. It can be found on by going to http://chaletmemories.blogspot.com/ . On January 1st, 2009 I will edit the profile so that each of you can sign in and add your own piece of magic to this creation. I will send an email with directions. As creativity often flows more freely and honestly over time – we will continue to collect your revelations until May 1, 2009.
Once the blog has been completed – I will use this beautiful content to create a book which will capture the essence of all you have contributed….and this is my gift to each of you.
